New
toolbars - Access nearly all menu
commands by clicking an icon. All previous toolbars (Activity toolbar, Command
bar, Navigation bar, Directory bar, etc.) have been removed.
Icons & Symbols have been updated.
Customizable toolbars - Choose the toolbars you want to display,
choose the icons to display on each toolbar, move toolbars to any location in
the interface, move and customize icons, create custom toolbars, and more.
Customizable menus - Change the display order of menus, move
menu commands, delete menus and commands, customize commands, and create custom
menus. Additionally, some commands have been moved and some removed.
Tabbed window layouts - Open multiple windows simultaneously. All
open windows display as tabs below the toolbar area at the top of the
interface. In previous releases, you could only open one window at a time.
Tile windows horizontally or vertically to simultaneously work in multiple
windows without having to toggle between windows using the tabs.
- New
HTML editor provides enhanced
formatting for entering content in notebook and description fields, such
as in the Activity Details > Notebook tab.
- Auto-Reorganization - You can now enable and disable
automatic reorganization of grouped data per window. Previously, this
setting was a user preference that applied to all windows and dialog
boxes. Now, this setting applies to the active window only, and can be
different for each open window.
- Set
Page Breaks by Group Band -
For printing a layout, you can now set page breaks by group band to force
page breaks. You can set page breaks by group bands from the Projects,
Resources, Activities, and Assignments windows.
- Run
a Report Batch or Export Projects as a Service from the Command Line
You can optionally run batch reports and export projects as services from
the Window's command line.
- Timescaled
Logic Diagrams -
From the Activities window, you can use Tools, Timescaled Logic Diagram to
export open projects to the Primavera Timescaled Logic Diagram application
to generate timescaled logic diagrams. The Primavera Timescaled Logic
Diagram application runs as a separate application with its own help.
- New
Database Tables for
Summarizer incompatible with previous database summary tables uses
completely new tables that are incompatible with the old database summary
tables. Migrating to this new release causes all existing summary data to
be deleted. So immediately after migrating to this new release, you must
resummarize all your existing projects that were previously summarized.
You resummarize these projects by choosing Tools, Summarize.
- Summary
only projects are
no longer supported. If you have existing summary only projects for which
you want to retain data, then either before or after migrating to this new
release you must import the project from Microsoft Project (MSP) and then
summarize the imported project in P6 Professional.
- Option
to e-mail - When printing a
report or printing a report batch, you can elect to automatically e-mail
the report.
- Removal
of Fields - The following fields
were removed as selections from the Columns dialog box: Review Finish,
Review Status, Integrated Project, Estimated Weight.
- Shared
and Personal Resource Calendars. Resource
calendars can now be of two types: shared or personal.
Shared
resource calendars are the standard resource calendars. They can be assigned to
multiple resources, and only users with Add/Edit/Delete Resource Calendars privilege
can edit a shared resource calendar.
Personal
resource calendars are new. Personal resource calendars are similar to shared
resource calendars except a personal resource calendar is assigned to only one
user, and that user can edit the standard workweek, hours per time period, and
exceptions in their personal resource calendar without needing any privileges.
- Activity
Details Feedback Tab has
been enhanced so you can collaborate on activities by entering
activity-specific messages or feedback for other users to view; all users
who can access the activity can view your feedback and provide their own
feedback that you can view.
