Portrayed on this coin's obverse is Abraham, the lone shepherd, looking towards the stars, symbolizing constant divine presence in the lives of the faithful. The image captures the moment that the Lord informed him that he will be the patriarch of a great nation, comparing his offspring with the stars in heaven: "So Shall Thy Seed Be" (Genesis 15:1-6). When looking at this coin, it reminds us that the dramatic and inspirational events of the past are just as relevant now, in the era of a new millennium, as they were when they happened in the Holy Land thousands of years ago. The 21 stars on the coin allude to the start of the 21st century.
