1841 - 1d Red Stamp with letters 'RF' - 1844 Oval-Framed Cancelation No 12

From May 1844 until 1851 the Inland Office used the oval-framed diamond cancellations.

The initial issue of these special cancellations comprised of twenty obliterators numbered 1 to 20. The number of lines enclosing the diamond varies; 2-3-8-12-8-12-2-3.

Many of the obliterators were repaired or re-engraved, resulting in variations in the number of lines and types of numeral.
