Galveston is a coastal resort city and port off the Southeast Texas coast on Galveston and Pelican Islands in the state of Texas. A Deepwater channel connects Galveston’s harbor with the Gulf and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
The Port of Galveston, also called Galveston Wharves, began as trading post in 1825. Today the port has grown to 850 acres of port facilities. The port is located on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, on the north side of Galveston Island, with some facilities on Pelican Island. The port has facilities to handle all types of cargo including containers, dry and liquid bulk, breakbulk, Roll-on/roll-off, refrigerated cargo and project cargoes. It also serves as a passenger cruise ship terminal for cruise ships operating in the Caribbean.
This card, published by “Gust Feist Co,
Galveston” and printed by “Curt Teich”, captures some of the “Galveston
Port and Bay” in a different era, postmarked 1908. The card is in good condition with a slight tear
middle top but just minor wear overall.
The image is a nice visual that is clean, and clean. The reverse has a message, a Texas
cancellation and is clean.
