This all-in-one kit can be used to refurbish your Weltron Sankyo cassette tape player as fitted to the GEC/Weltron 2007

After nearly 50 years the now hard-to-find 13.2mm pinch roller will be hard and/or mishapen due to age and oxide build up, this is the main reason tapes get 'eaten' and jammed by old cassette players. The central idler wheel rubber will be cracked or very loose, and this impacts play, fast-forward and rewind functions. The main drive belts will also be loose and/or cracked and this will effect playback speed. This kit, provided with very detailed instructions, will allow all these problems to be fixed and additional components to be correctly cleaned to bring the player back to life, and back to factory spec.

It has come to our attention that 2 different types of idler wheel were used in the Weltron, as you only know which type it is after you've dismantled the whole thing we thought it easier to include parts to fit both different styles,  so there is now an additional idler wheel supplied with the kit.

We've fitted 3 of these kits and it makes such a difference to the sound and playback. It's not an easy task but well worth the effort when you have exactly the right parts and instructions to hand

The kit includes :

2 x tape belts (Made In Japan - verified)

1 x pinch roller

1 x idler wheel replacement tyre

1 x idler wheel replacement  (alternative type)

2 x fibre free cleaning swabs

3 x Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) impregnated wipes

2 x plastic support stays to make it easier to work on and test in-situ the tape player

1 x magnifying lens which will help with all the fiddly stuff

1 x detailed 4 page photographic instructions (a link to the files will be provided)

IMPORTANT: the maintenance stays in this kit are only guaranteed to fit the plastic framed Weltron 2007, the early 2007s have an internal sheet metal frame (see photo) which the stays are not compatible with

PLEASE NOTE: sometimes due to supply issues we may substitute some of the items shown in the photos (for example we have 2 suppliers of pinch rollers and one has a dark grey centre and the other a light grey centre). But rest assured the quality will remain consistent throughout
