This copy is signed by Pierre Benoit, and also has an original pen and ink colour drawing by Leon Carre. The book was formerly the property of the famous daughter in law of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and is signed by her in full as "Mrs Denis Conan Doyle, Princesse Nina Mdivani". 

Original pictorial stiff card covers in the original glassine dustcover, in the original slipcase. Large octavo 9 inches by 6.5 inches.  The original colour pen and ink drawing is laid onto card backing and measures 8.75 by 5.5 inches. 

The book is in excellent condition with just a little wear to the glassine dustjacket (see pictures). Clean and bright. Binding sound and square. 

A unique museum-quality association item, signed by the author and the famous owner, with an original artwork by the illustrator. 

Provenance: The book was formerly part of the collection of the celebrated bibliographer and bookseller, George Locke.
