26 full page coloured plates (frontispiece with tissue guard), numerous black & white illustrations.

Half bound in red/brown morocco, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, brown cloth boards which  are marked and discoloured. Rubbing to corners and ends of spine. Slight splitting at ends of spine. Marbled endpapers. Some discoluration of margins of endpaper. Original owner’s details on reverse of endpaper.  The remains of a bound insert slip in hinge between endpaper and half-title page. 

The page listing the plates is detached and the webbing of the hinge is visible. The section of pages 401-410 are nearly detached. And the final section 411-424 is also very loose. 

The book could make a good repair project alternatively the fantastic colour plates could be suitable for framing.
