The revolutionary obturator system of Valbray, that recalls the intensity diaphragms of photography, is a pure example of a contemporary micro-mechanical masterpiece, applied in the watchmaking tradition.The system is composed of 16 extra thin blades, entirely integrated in a rotating bezel measuring only 45 mm in diameter and 7 mm in width. The diaphragm opens and closes by slowly sliding the blades on each other on a constant and regular circular shape. Protected by three layers of ultra technical coating, they maintain their elasticity and color and resist to rubbing.At the maximum aperture of the bezel, the blades completely disappear, releasing a different underlying dial measuring 30 mm in diameter.
The design of Valbray reflects the spirit of the house. It is with passion and enthusiasm that the aestheticism of these timepieces is born.Its ovoid case is easily identifiable by the pulled lines and the shining chamfers. The sculpted edges give it an energetic aspect, masterfully embracing the chronograph pushers , the crown and the perfectly integrated watch strap. A transparent sapphire crystal on the case back reveals the Swiss automatic movement, beautifully finished and equipped with an oscillating rotor redrawn.Its dial, hand-assembled and carefully finished, shows a layered construction and is decorated with a display of original half-hours at 7.5 and 10.5. A world first in watchmaking. The V on the dial “cuts” the wheel of seconds, reinforcing the dynamism of the design and underlining the timelessness of the brand. The hands are built from one block and open-worked, then facetted and satin-finished for a unique result. On the titanium models, the dial is enhanced with a honeycomb grid giving it a more sportive and racing appearance.
The entire collection is equipped with a unique automatic Swiss chronograph caliber. Valbray has created the V.CA1 movement for functional and aesthetic reasons.The rotor is based on a ceramic ball bearing, increasing considerably the rotation reliability and the torque transmission. The rotor’s arms are designed to absorb the radial shock and are refined by hand finishing. The mass has a “Côte de Genève” decoration. All the finishing touches are carefully handmade.The long assembly process of each watch takes place in a room with a controlled atmosphere. Each movement and diaphragm pass through a battery of stringent tests to achieve Valbray’s ultimate reliability and accurancy standards.
