Variety has been published since December 16, 1905, when it was launched
by Sime Silverman as a weekly periodical covering vaudeville including burlesque,
vaudeville, circuses, fairs and minstrelsy.
It eventually began concentrating on movies and Hollywood. It covered
the entire range from nickelodeon one-reelers to features.
These magazines document some of the early days of entertainment
and are fascinating to read. They also include many periods
advertisements.
