An Important Large Early Shipyard Half Hull Model executed with pegged, multi-lift construction and retaining old painted surfaces possibly from the mid-1800s. Model from the estate of a marine antiques collector from Nova Scotia. Good condition as found with an old painted surface and fitted with desirable antique rectangular wood dowel construction. Desirable aged crackelure with some expected minor scattered marks, rubs, etc., noting some edge-wear presumably from separation of lifts during disassembly of model for design application of vessels as pictured below. Apparently, after model was retired, old screws were added to secure 7 lifts. An enviable example of an old working model probably for a coastal schooner, which would make a fine centerpiece for any marine antiques or ship model collection. Unfortunately, models of this appreciable age and commanding size seem to seldom surface anymore.
Approximate overall model dimensions: 42" Length X 7" Height X 5" Depth X 12# Weight.
