Big-eyed children gaze poignantly from the glass of this Victorian style frame, in a rather intriguing piece of bohemian art. The charming little girls and boys are decoupage faces, applied with hand painted to six polished shell chips. Each piece of shell is approximately 2 x 1/2 inches, each with a slightly different shape as they are natural material, each with a small hole at the top like a pendant. The six shells are mounted on olive green flocked backing. This original art piece has a deep two-tone frame in somber matte black and antique gold. Made in the 1960s or early 70s.

The picture including frame measures 13 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches. Thickness of frame is 1 1/2 inches. Visible olive green area is 9 1/2 x 7 5/8 inches.

Condition is excellent. The upper right child's "portrait" has a nick of shell missing where the small hole would be. The olive green backing is just a bit loose in the frame, but intact and does not need remedy in order to be displayed. The frame is sturdy and has a few very mild chalk-like hints to one area of the recessed antique gold trim.
