This is a VERY NICE SET of 6 PATRIOTIC postcards showing GEORGE WASHINGTON in various military scenes and other patriotic themes. These postcards are ANTIQUE from the early 1900s.
These postcards come from the publisher International Art Publishing (IAP) who is an important and valued publisher. They published in Germany during the "Golden Age of Postcards" (1908-1915). One of their most famous artist was Ellen Clapsaddle. This SET of postcards was drawn by another of their respected artists, E. Veenfliet. They all have his name on the postcards. These postcards bring a premium and they are valued by collectors. The postcards are from Series #51766. This is a nice set for collectors, and it is not often that you find so many of these postcards in one lot like this. Often, these antique patriotic postcards sell for over $12 each.
The postcards show George Washington and were published for his birthday (President's Day) and could have been used for Memorial Day, and the 4th Of July as well. The postcards are all nicely EMBOSSED and some have GOLD TRIM around the design.
The designs show portraits of Washington as a General and as President. They have USA flags and shields, soldiers, monuments, battle scenes, and one has the cherry tree story theme. This is a very nice set to commemorate the life of Washington.
Overall, this is a very nice set of antique patriotic postcards. Often they are just sold as individual items. These are collector items because of their age, IAP as the publisher, Veenfliet as the artist, and their appeal to Washington and Patriotic postcard collectors.
The postcards are UNPOSTED (1) and POSTED (5) with cancel dates of 1910-11. They are all nicely EMBOSSED and have DIVIDED backs. They were "Printed in Germany".
These are BETTER POSTCARDS and are good for a collector or dealer. They will keep their value. Often these postcards are sold as individual items for many dollars each. They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, stains and edge wear due to their age. The photos show the postcards and their backs. The postcards are shipped in a sturdy envelope.
