Triang Hornby British made EMPTY LOCO BOX ONLY for unknown loco type (tenders were supplied in separate boxes at this time). Lift off lid type. External dimensions: length 227mm, width 73mm, depth 58mm. Item is in good solid condition for its age without any faults that I can see besides a split along the front left hand edge of the lid that also extends c25mm along the top and c10mm along the bottom edge, a crack the full height of the lid and a peeling top corner at the same end and along the rear edge from the bottom right corner c50mm to the left and c15mm upwards, neither of which are visible internally plus a wrinkled surface on the bottom face between the ends of those cracks and a piece of black gaffer tape solidly stuck across the rear of the box. Apart from that there is hand writing on both otherwise blank white end panels, quite a number of losses of the the red/yellow paper surface plus other minor scuffs/blemishes/corner and wear but nothing really serious. Has no interior liner or loco securing material. Originally contained an unknown loco which was quite possibly an LMS Princess, SR Battle of Britain, LNER A3 or BR Britannia. Produced from 1950's or 60's before the word Hornby was added. A good solid example of a scarce 60 odd year old box that could easily be tidied up
