Vintage 60s/70s  Loose/Open Weave Brocade Stripe Fabric for Drapery | Casement | 2.125 yds

Item Description.  This fabric came from a Houston area estate.  The previous owner made her own clothes starting in the early 1940’s and continued to do so until the 1990’s.  She also collected fabrics.  This fabric is part of that stash.

Condition. No issues noted,

Color Details. Medium blule, orange, cream

Content. Linen or Cotton Blend + Rayon

Textile Type.  Large diameter weft yarns with slubs  held in place by a boucle type yarn of rayon or a cotton/rayon blend.  The effect of the weave is quite nice.  The weave is quite loose and is semi sheer.  The fabric has a fuzzy, lightly scratchy, warm hand.  Nice warm surface luster.

Design Comments.  The boucle yarns in conjunction with the complex brocading result in a chaotic, almost deconstructed, stripe running vertically.

Application. This light to medium weight fabric is perfect for drapery, costume, and curtains.  Might make a nice pillow.

Length.  2.125 yds

Width. 49 in.

Fabric Weight.   Medium to heavy

Total Weight. 1 lbs. 5 oz.

A note about color reproduction. Color is subjective.  Any descriptors used to characterize color must to taken as a suggestion only, and not as definitive. Color reproduction is massively difficult and color management in most devices is implemented poorly.  Apple devices handle color reasonably well.  Microsoft Windows devices are all over the place; the same applies to Android devices.   Those with Windows PC’s are strongly encouraged to enable Windows Color Management and install updated monitor drivers or download the ICC color space specific to the monitor and then configure Windows Color Management properly.  If you are unsure how to check or configure, I am willing to assist.  Unless a calibrated monitor is used, I recommend resetting the monitor back to factory standard configurations.  For most flat screen monitors, color settings should be set to 5000K, daylight, or warm and the brightness setting should be high.  For Android devices, the brightness adjustment slider should be pushed to the right.  Any “night” or “bedtime” view settings which automatically filter much of the color blue on all platforms should be disabled.   Otherwise, your eyes may be deceiving you, and, most likely, are!
