This is a rare find. It is an antique Chinese picnic box complete with its original lid. Decorated with Fish, bats, birds and flowers and traditional patterns around the body. The lid has a scene of two scholars beneath a gingko tree flanked by flowers. The Black and red lacquer is in fair condition for its age.
Having been used lovingly and stored for most of its life, it remains in fine antique condition. Note some minor nicks, scuffs and separations to the original lacquer finish (see pictures close up). The basket measures 8 1/2" wide x 12 1/2" deep x 13.5" tall including the handle (22 x 32 x 34 cm). A great storage box or useful for party food or an elegant meal. A great way to serve your homemade meal or dress up your take out!
