Vintage Handpainted Celery Dish or Serving Tray by Mello China in the 30s. 12 1/4" Long Including Handles.

This one is very beautiful because it's so subtle. The painting is a simple landscape with a tree  in front of a lake with mountains in the background and an orange sky. Mello produced find porcelain and china, and the artists were some of the best in the business. I like the way this painting overflows onto the rim and the handles. Although I believe it was originally made as a celery dish, these trays are good for a lot of different foods, especially during a nice holiday meal. I used to divide my veggies up into two or three little dishes like this so they could be placed around the table for easy reaching. Until my grandsons were older, we tried to always serve country style, with all the food on the table. But when they graduated to big chairs, we had to use buffet style for serving so there was enough room on the table to eat. These pretty serving dishes ended up being pretty in their china cabinet, but this one really wants to get out there and work again.
