Vintage Danish Silver Plate Frigast Savoy Cake Knife

This elegant knife was designed by Henning Seidelin for Frigast Denmark. Henning Seidelin was a prominent famous Danish designer who studied at the Royal Danish Academy from 1917-1936. He began his career as a sculptor but soon turned to industrial design. His work encompassed many mediums and products range from silverware, cutlery, home-wares, lighting, furniture and ceramics. As with many Danish designers their skill ranges over many fields in their life time. Among others Henning designed for Georg Jensen, Hans Hansen, Frigast/Gense, Le Klint and Royal Copenhagen.

The pattern is called Savoy and was first designed in the early 1950's. It has a sleek glossy pattern with fine lines and elegant curves to the handles.

The cake knife is clearly marked with the Frigast mark. It is in very good condition and has a shaped stainless steel blade.

There are a few very light usage marks in the form of fine scratches.

The knife is 295mm long.

For Imperial measurement users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
