One of a number of antique and vintage pocket watches I am currently selling. Some of the cases you will see are dented slightly from age and use wear. They are all mechanical watches and not battery operated. There are no keys with them unless otherwise stated. Some are crown wind so no key needed.
I have NOT timed any of them and not serviced any. They are sold as seen and as spares - repair only. Some will need attention.

Please note: I have added 22 large photos to the bottom of this listing to try and show the item in as much detail as possible so please take the time to view them all carefully.

This is an UNUSUAL antique pocket watch in an unmarked silver case. It is European - Continental made but as to which country I do not know as I have not seen the unusual balance cock type before. I have just looked on line and there is a similar one listed as Swiss made.

It is c1800 style with the suspension loops type and the shaft which MAY have had another outer case as its stepped on the shaft.

Plain back and you will see the winder is in the front through the enamel dial. Very nice silver case with two tiny bumps at 3 o'clock area for you to hold with your fingers to open the case. A snug fitting case hinges open the front.

White enamel dial with 15 - 60 on the other edge and then numbers of the time. 2 very fine GOLD hands and the long hand is slightly bent. To be fair.. this long hand decides to drop off occasionally from its square shaft.

The winder hole has enamel damage around it as usual. Key not included but its a size 1.

6 position has the small catch which the movement hinges out from here. At this point you will see the brass movement edge has a slight design of IIIIII milling.

So hinge the movement out. You can then see the brass dust cover of the movement has a glass window so you can see the balance staff moving and an unusual open balance cock.
Before we go in there.

The inner silver back case is marked on the inside with:
DCO in a diamond shape
2673

It has an unusual hinged movement cover with a glass window.

This cover has a tiny steel lever on the top edge which you gently get with your finger nail and the dust coved then hinges into the glass on the front case.

The movement is unusual as I have never seen one before.

A really nice engraved and chased silver balance cock onto a polished steel central pin. Polished steel under the ext. fine 3 spoke balance wheel. The polished steel in a crescent shape which is the regulator dial.

The brass back plate has fine engraving foliage swirls too and fast and slow written in European.

It does seem to be in working condition as it ticks fine. I have wound it, but I do not like to overwind. It wants to tick, sometimes stops, rock it gently and away it will go again.

The balance staff is good, looking from the side at the movement you can see it is a fusee verge with shaped baluster pillars.

It is a really nice pocket watch and I am all ears if someone can enlighten me as to which country it is from and what date please.

Please see photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition. There are normal signs of age and use wear including some surface scuffs etc.
The enamel dial is chipped near the keyhole.
There are some tiny impact marks / dints on the case's surface.

The case measures approx. 50mm in diameter or approx. 2 inches. It weighs approx. 97.5 grams.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.

If you see A/F = a/f in the title or description it means "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage.
