This classic novel is in very good condition. There is minor staining on the page of Chapter 1 (pictured), and there is in inscription in the inner cover and front page. As an additional find, there is a folded note tucked into the glossary which will also be included in its original found spot.

The Story of an African Farm was written originally under the pseudonym Ralph Iron, but this edition was published with the author’s actual name, giving full credit to Olive Schreiner. Believed to be one of the first feminist novels, it became a best seller, even though the topics of feminism, pregnancy out of wedlock, and free thought were a shock to the culture of the time. It follows three children as they progress to adulthood and the challenges and decisions they encounter along the way. The author is kind enough to include a glossary for terms unfamiliar to the reader.
