Many Alternatives to Syrups...
Once you have made your shaved ice, there are a variety of options for creating the perfect flavourings for all your cones. You can purchase syrup extract, or use easy alternatives such as maple syrup, ice cream sauces, flavoured squash and cordials, caramel sauce, golden syrup, honey, chocolate sauce and even add coffee to make an iced coffee.
You can also top your snow cone with some treats such as squirty cream, sprinkles, ice cream, fruit, sauces, caramel or chocolate chips.
Make Your Own Syrup!
Using this easy method:
- 2 1/2 cups of fruit of your choice
- 2 cups of water
- 3 cups of sugar
- Slice the fruit and add to the saucepan with the water, bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Remove the fruit from the mixture using a strainer, return the water mixture to a pan and add the sugar.
- Bring to the boil until the sugar has completely dissolved. Leave to cool completely before pouring into a container and refrigerate until ready to use. Most syrups should last up to 10 days if refrigerated.
