Stunning Antique James and Ralph Clews Brown transferware platter in the Genevese pattern, c 1818 - 1834. The pattern features an Oriental scene with pagodas and town in background, the floral border is scalloped with embossed beads. Transfer onto White Clay Body. Back has the impressed Clews Staffordshire stamp and the pattern Genevese in cartouche. 

 

James and Ralph Clews were brothers in business in Cobridge, Staffordshire, England and made this platter as part of their American Market products at an estimated 1825 to 1834.

The border is a floral pattern with flowers, birds and leaves - with beaded edges.

Extremely Rare Platter In "Genevese" Pattern Brown Transfer "Opaque China". Remarkable condition for age almost 200 years. Certainly not perfect and does show age with areas of crazing, staining, and  discoloration. Slight scratching to Obverse surface. Stilt marks on Reverse surface. No major cracks seen. No chips or repairs seen. Provided 24 pictures and encourage you to look closely. Please see Item Specifics. We would consider this to be in very good used condition with signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Please take a moment to review all photos as an important part of condition and description.
