Scarce Jordan Schlanger 24k Vermeil Sterling Silver Coralâ„¢ Ball Pendant, Unique!

And now for something complete different ~

Holiday Season, between Christmas & New years, c.1993...

T'was the week before the Spring Shows (spring happens in January in the Designer Jewelry Biz), & Schlanger's Workshop, having just finished the Holiday crush, was hard at work preparing treasures for the first major event of the new year...

And something new was afoot!

Indeed, the intrepid designer & his trusty team of talented metalsmiths were finishing a set of samples comprised of something entirely new, never before done in jewelry design.

Having already managed to create the fascinating filigree of the Lace & Woven Lace collections, we were now literally making balls of foamy bubbles out of solid silver.

These constructions were unlike anything else seen prior or since: Intricate 3-dimensional organic structures that bore a resemblance to the porous concretions that corals create. Hence they became the Coral Collection.

Presented here is the smaller of the two sizes of Coral Ball Pendant. These spheres formed of this new 'Coral' are done here with a thick, multi-micron layer of 24k pure gold.

The effect is at once fascinating & festive. They're like balls of beach-foam, golden pompoms, lightweight & airy yet substantial.

Dimensions: The sphere pendant is about 7/8" across, the chain is about 16-1/2" long.

I presently have two of these choker-length Ball on Chain in the 24k Gold Vermeil.

I'll put up the remaining group I have of these in both fine silver & vermeil. This should be fun. Just in time for the season, wear them from holiday to resort to spring, definitely unique, very pretty, fascinating to look at, & definitely different than anything you've had before.

Once these are all gone, that will be it for the Coral Collection! The set-up & knowledge-base for these is long gone.

From the archives, this is an original sample-line item, a last relic from a classic set of signature designs rarely seen. It is 'new old stock', as it has never been worn, but may have small signs of handling in a showroom setting. It's in near perfect shape.

While the original price tag isn't attached on this one, it would've retailed for around $200 (about $282 in today's 2022 dollars).

This listing is for the Coral Sphere Pendant on Chain in Silver, featured in the first photos. Related items shown in the last photos are listed separately or are shown for reference.

You'll likely never find another of these.
