A single switch controls the flashlight outputs and activates the hand warmer, and if you need a light on an especially chilly night you can activate both the light and warmer together. An integrated indicator in the switch lets you know that the hand-warmer function is on, so you don't get a surprise if you put the flashlight in your pants pocket. For your convenience, when you plug a device into the USB output port, the ThermoTorch detects the need and automatically starts charging your phone or tablet.

Both the input and output charging ports are covered by the tailcap to protect them from water, dirt, and debris, and there are charging and battery status indicators there to monitor how much juice you have. Celestron designed the ThermoTorch for daily use, so they made the housing out of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy and treated it with a scratch-resistant anodized finish.
