Embossed cards Issued in KurMark Cigarettes package: Cards are from series 2 no 43, 83, 146. Cards measures approx. 2 1/16" x 2 7/16" (51mm X 62mm). Each card is in full color, embossed with an individual pattern. Cards are in new condition (look scan). No mount damage on back, no creases and very clean. Back with text written in German.

About Anny Ondra.  Ondra was a Czechoslovak actress. Born May 15, 1902 in Tarnow, then Austria-Hungary, now in Poland and died February 28, 1987 in Hollenstedt, Lower Saxony. Star of Czech cinema, she played in more than forty films in Bohemia, Austria and Germany until 1928, mainly under the direction of Karel Lamac, whose companion she became. That year, she signed a contract with British International Pictures. There she met Alfred Hitchcock, with whom she made two films. She foreshadows the “Hitchcock blonde”. With the advent of sound cinema, his strong accent harmed his career in England. It must also be doubled in Blackmail (Blackmail). This does not mark the mourning of her career, however, she will still play in around forty films in Germany, France and Czechoslovakia. With Karel Lamač, she founded the company Ondra-Lamac-film in 1930. They separate in life, while continuing to be associated professionally.She married the German boxer Max Schmeling in July 1933. Friends with the Goebbels family before the war, the couple suffered the consequences, despite their help for Jewish children. They converted to raising chickens and mink near Hamburg. The couple returned to favor in the 1950s. She made her last screen appearance in 1957.

 

 

About : Magdalena Schneider (17 May 1909 – 30 July 1996 ) was a German actress and singer. She is the mother of the actress Romy Shneider. Magdalena Schneider was born in Augsburg, Bavaria, the daughter of an installer. She attended a Catholic girl’s school and a commercial college, thereafter she worked as a stenographer. At the same time, Schneider studied singning at the Leopold Mazart Conservatory in Augsburg and ballet at the municipal theater. She make her stage debut at the « Staatstheater am Gartnerplatz » in Munich. Shneider drew the attention of the Austrian director Ernst Marischka who cal her to the theater in Vienna, and in 1930 gave Schneider her first film role. While filming in 1933, Schneider met her future husband, the Austrian actor Wolf Albach-Retty. The couple married in 1937 and had two children: Rosemarie Magdalena, called Romy, and Wolf-Dieter, later a surgeon, born in 1941. During World war II, Schneiderlived leave in the Bavarian Alps near Hitler’s retreat. Schneider was a guest of Hitler’s who declared that she was his favorite actress. Schneider and Albach-Retty separed and the marriage ended in divorce in 1945. After the war Schneider began filming in 1948 and promoted her daughter’s career with the joint appearance in the 1953 film When The White Lilacs Bloom Again, which was the film debut of 14-year-old Romy Schneider. In the same year Magda Schneider married a Cologne restaurant owner. Magda Schneider arranged further appesrances with her daughter in several movies. Schneider died in 1996 at her house near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria.

 

About Gretl Theimer: (Born 27 November 1911, Wien – Died 14 March 1972, Munich aged 61) Gretl Theimer was educated as a ballet dancer and danced in the children's ballet of the State Opera in Vienna. Subsequently she made herself a name by singing in operettas on Austrian and German stages.The music film "Zwei Herzen in Dreivierteltakt" (1930) turned her into a movie star. The title song was a that movie was a great success as well. During the thirties she made many successfull movies, but after "Falstaff in Wien" (1940) she disappeared from the movies. From 1952 onwards she had small parts in several movies.She died in 1972 and was buried at the Waldfriedhof in Munich. In 1991 the actress Annie Markart was buried in the same grave
