German Sultan Cigarettes package: Cards are from Luxusbild series no 51, 75.
Cards measures approx. 2 1/16" x 2 7/16" (51mm x 62mm). Each card is
in full color, embossed with an individual pattern. Cards are in new condition
(look scan). No mount damage on back, no creases and very clean. Back with text
written in German.
About Greta Lovisa Gustafsson, known as Greta Garbo, was a Swedish naturalized American actress, born September 18, 1905 in Stockholm, Sweden and died April 15, 1990 in New York. Nicknamed "the Divine", she shot her last film in 1941. When Garbo arrived in Hollywood, her career took an unexpected turn; she has nothing of a femme fatale about her. Louis B. Mayer nicknamed it “the big Nordic cow” – but Arnold Genthe, a photographer from Vanity Fair, sees its great potential. She follows a slimming diet and changes her appearance: cut hair, straightened, clear forehead, reduced eyebrows, highlighted eyes. Her first appearances in silent films propelled her to the top of the bill. The renewal of her contract is the occasion of a long showdown with Louis B. Mayer and results in her becoming the highest paid actress in America. It was in these early years that she met silent film star John Gilbert, with whom she pursued a relationship that made headlines. His career, unlike that of many others, did not end with the end of silent cinema. Greta Garbo was one of the few Hollywood stars to make the leap into talkies. It was in Anna Christie in 1930 that the public heard for the first time her deep and sensual voice, tinged with a slight Swedish accent. From this time on, a new solitary and enigmatic character was created for him. Garbo was successfully treated for breast cancer in 1984. She died on April 15, 1990, aged 84, in hospital from pneumonia and kidney failure.

3, 1898 in Amstetten died June 22, 1973 in Vienna, was an Austrian actress. Friederike
Pfaffender was a student in a secondary school of commerce and became a bank
employee, then a kindergartener and finally an assistant to a radiologist. At
the same time, she took dance lessons at the Vienna Conservatory and theater
lessons with Aurel Nowottny. Friedl Czepa obtained an engagement at the Theater
in der Josefstadt, in 1931. She was able to play all kinds of jobs, but above
all elegant women and made herself known on the stages of Hamburg or
Frankfurt-am-Main. Friedl Czepa
turns in his first film in 1934 and very quickly plays the leading roles. She
was in favor of the Anschluss and from 1940 to 1945 was director of the
Stadttheater in Vienna, while pursuing her film career. She was banned from
