Hart J. Rodgers was born in 1831 in Connecticut, son of Jedidiah Rodgers (1800-1863) and Abigail Hart (1800-1859). By 1850 the family had moved to Ilinois, but Hart remained in New Haven, Connecticut where he worked as a daguerreotype artist from 1852-1858.  He was married in 1855 to Grace A. Stowe and the couple has at least two children.  In 1860 Hart was listed as a photographer in Bridgeort, CT and in 1864 in Winchester, CT.  No later than 1871  he established a studio on Main Street in Hartford, CT.  He remained there until his death in 1905.
