Colonial Tribute Series – Virginia Shilling – 50mm - .999 Fine Silver Art Medal

- The 50mm diameter makes this a larger round.

"The only British colony allowed to have coinage under law was Virginia. And while the copper Halfpennies of 1773 circulated widely, the Silver Shilling pattern of 1774 was not widely known. Only 5 proof specimens of the coin are known today. The original coin shared many design elements of the Gold Guineas that circulated widely at the time. Obverse shows the bust of George III with long hair and the legend GEORGIVS | III DEI l GRATIAl. On the reverse is the Crowned Arms of Virginia surrounded by the legend VIRGINIA l."
