Miramas is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhone department, in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region of Southern France. It is the second-largest commune in metropolitan Quest-Province and is located at the north end of the “Etang de Berre lagoon”, adjacent to and northeast of the city of Istres.
Miramas does have a racetrack, the “Circuit of Miramas” which is located within a mile of the town. In 1926 it hosted the “French Grand Prix” but is now owned by BMW and used as a test track. I could not find "Champ d’Aviation” anywhere but it is on this card c 1910s with an early aeroplane taking off. There are hangers in the distance.
The card’s postmark date is not readable. There is a “Commision Militaire” stamp
along with the cancel. The card is in
good condition with minor wear. There is
some errant postal ink on the image, but it is otherwise clean, clear as is the
reverse.
