I have for sale here a mostly original 1952 Schwinn Black Phantom. As you can see in the pictures it is in good condition. It’s not perfect, but what do you expect for a bicycle that is over 70 years old?

The paint on the frame is the original paint job done to it in 1952. As you can see, much of its original luster has faded somewhat and there are a number of areas where paint has chipped away due to years of use. As stated before, this bicycle is over 70 years old and the original paint on the frame still looks okay. There is plenty of patina here.

If you look closely you will notice there is a locking mechanism attached to the fork assembly. I have a blank key for it, but the new owner will have to have the key ground to fit the lock.

I am happy to say the original headlight on the front fender works just like it is new (See pics). It is bright and it looks awesome on this bicycle.

The buzzer in the chrome tank works perfect. It’s loud and it helps bring back the good old days of the 50s and 60s.

I have included a new ding dong bell on the handlebars and it is very loud when activated.

I have taken off the two old and worn black bicycle tires that were on this black phantom and replaced them with two new wide white wall tires. Now they match closely to what the original wide white wall tires that were on the original Schwinn Black Phantom bicycles back then.

The front and rear fenders are the original ones that came with this bicycle. When I got this bicycle they were painted with brown paint. I have since painted them with a chrome color paint and painted a clearcoat on top of it. They look OK, but they do not have the luster that chrome plating would have on it. Like I said, they are the original 1952 fenders that came with this bicycle.

The rear tail light on this bicycle is new. This type of tail light also has a brake light mechanism included with it. Now when you are riding his bicycle, and you’re coming to a stop, it will light up just like a brake light would do. How cool is that?

The front and rear wheels are the original Schwinn tubular S2 stamped, double knurled wheels. They are straight and they turn true like they should.

I feel a classic Schwinn bicycle is not officially a classic Schwinn bicycle unless has some chrome winglet skirts attached to the axles on each wheel. Look at the brilliance of the faux rubies on each one of them. They look like the real deal when the sun shines on them. The chrome looks fantastic on them, too. These wing style flare on each winglet looks just like the wing flare on the black phantom chain guard. It is simply awesome to behold.

Back in its heyday, Schwinn would guarantee that the wheels, the cantilever frame, and the whole bicycle in general, would last as long as you owned your bicycle. Meaning, if any problems came up with the bicycle, Schwinn would fix it or replace the parts for free (See last picture for Schwinn guarantee Ad).

You have to admit those two tanned imported leather saddlebags add some pizzazz and a little bit of zing to this Schwinn Black Phantom. It’s the little things like this that turns a mediocre bicycle into one bodacious and awesome looking bicycle.

Back in the 50s and 60s, the Schwinn Black Phantom bicycles were the most sought after bicycles to have. Schwinn could not make enough for them due to the high demand from the general public. Every kid who was anyone back then wanted one of these awesome bicycles and now you have a chance to get one.

Gentlemen, now is the perfect time for you to relive your youth all over again. Get this mostly original 1952 Schwinn Black Phantom and be the envy of everyone on your block.

Please note: Because this bicycle is almost 70 years old, it is being sold as is. There will be no refunds or returns allowed. What you see is what you get. So please make sure this is what you want before you purchase.

Also, this bicycle is very large in size and is heavy. It weighs over 65 pounds so the shipping will be kind of expensive. I prefer if you come and pick it up at a designated location, but I will ship it to you, but you will have to pay the price mandated by FedEx.

Selling for $1952.00 (If you look you will see my bicycle is one of the more cheaper priced Black Phantoms on eBay right now).

I will only ship this bicycle to the lower 48 states in the continental United States.

Thanks for looking at my awesome 1952 Schwinn black phantom and God bless America.
