Lovely hand painted cabinet plate made by Wedgwood circa 1930s-40s. Hand painted plates by this company are rare and so is this blue printed mark with a picture of a two-handled jug on the back. This plate measures 8" in diameter and has a scalloped edge. The painted flowers on the floor are large pink with prominent stamens, surrounded by red and green leaves and a blue billowy flower in the background. I don't know what type of flowers these are. They are surrounded by a thin gold border and then an intricate floral border on the flange along with another thin gold band on the very edge. The center painted area has no wear but there is occasional wear to the gold all over the plate (see photos). I don't think the gold loss detracts from its beauty. There are also two tiny chips on the back foot which obviously can not be seen from the front. This is a very unique and charming plate to add to your collection!
