Rare Early LARGE 1856 Framed NATHANIEL CURRIER Color Lithographed Engraving of Great CLIPPER SHIP DREADNOUGHT

DESCRIPTION: Scans show all.....very nice early, large Currier (before Ives joined the team) print of great "CLIPPER SHIP DREADNOUGHT".  Title continues, entered into Congress 1856, and "12 1/2 Days From New York On Her Celebrated Voyage Into Liverpool Dock In 13 Hours 11 Hours, Dec. 1854."  A great, handsome-looking antebellum clipper ship, and makes a great decorator. Clipper ships were KNOWN FOR THEIR SPEED AND COMMONLY USED TO GET TO THE GOLD FIELDS IN CALIFORNIA during the Gold Rush.

Their use continued into the Civil War and after, because of how much they could carry and because of their speed. This print is large and is nice with the color. It will go well with any period collection or on any wall. This includes any Confederate or Civil War collections or earlier. It has great eye appeal to decorate any period wall or for display, including a collection room, a man cave, an office, or family room, etc.

Information on the bottom indicates that this depicts a race between New York and Liverpool.  This print was "entered into Congress by Currier in the year 1856.

While it appears original by appearance it is actually a vintage reprint. Very nicely made, probably done during the 1930's-40's from the look of the frame.

Particularly nice, large, early print, of particularly nice subject matter, and very striking. Print is framed, with the label on the back. Overall framed print size is about 16 1/4" x 19 3/4". Print itself is about 14 1/4" x 10 1/2".
