Spontini‘s opera „La vestale“ was premiered in 1807 and printed for the first time in 1808 by the French publishing house Erard with the plate number 1001. From these plates – so it seems – other publishers printed copies as well. Richault made one, also Maurice Schlesinger later in the 1840s. This copy was done by Richault, therefore the plate number 700 on the title page, but the plate number „E. 1001“ on the music pages. I assume this copy was made ca. 1820.
