An imposing antique solid Oak framed wall mirror with Gothic arch shape and beautifully executed stylized foliate carvings in the top corners. The glass is bevelled to the same arch top shape. The original oak finish is present, a low sheen medium to dark oak in colour. The original solid oak back board is still in place as are the two brass hanging plates, one at either side.

Sold to me as a vintage Old Charm piece, but it is actually a much older original antique piece. The construction, the cutting method of the mirror (and its age spots - see below) and the solid oak back are giveaways.  

Large and heavy, this piece measures 35 1/8th inches (89 cm) high, 26 1/8th inches (66 cm) wide and 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) deep and it weighs around 13kg.

The oak frame has no splits or blemishes, just some expected small scuffs due to age and use. The top left corner panel has lifted - the joint need reglueing - and this reveals that the mirror edge was cut irregularly at the time of manufacture. Interesting to see, but this will be hidden under the frame again once re-glued. The oak back is intact and in good condition other than a section of wear at top right as shown. There are some tiny pin holes around the edge, literally from pin positions (not woodworm!). One of the original hanging plates has been re-set with a modern screw. It has hung on the wall here very securely for over 30 years, but this fisture should really be strengthened. The mirror glass has no scratches or marks. It has the slightest of small black dots visible at top right - common in antique mirrors as it is a feature of age. Please see the images.
