6 Antique Plates French Red Transferware Ironstone Set GIEN Aubepine Aesthetic
A beautiful set of 6 dark red transferware ironstone 'terre de fer' pottery plates. They are decorated with a lovely botanical and floral scene with a butterfly. They are made by Gien and the pattern is called Aubepine. This set was made in the late 19th century, inspired by the style of the Aesthetic movement.
They were made around 1850-1890, in France.
Dimensions:
Diameter plate: about 8 1/2 inch / 21.5 cm
Condition: Good antique condition, but there are some surface scratches and some crazing and stains to the glaze, 4 of the plates have some minor wear to the glaze/glaze chips on the edge, see the photos. *Flower and the plate stand are not included.
