This is one of about 2000 antique and vintage printing blocks / plates I am currently working through - all from one old deceased estate collection. These are from c1890s - c1950s. Most are engraved copper, brass, or steel mounted onto wood blocks, some are just the metal plates. These were for printing labels or adverts in magazines and newspapers of the era.  All are very interesting and mainly relate to advertising of loose tobacco, pipes, cigarettes, cigar companies and retailers such as Josiah Brown of Long Eaton as well as sporting related companies. Football, boxing, tennis, hockey, horse racing etc. Sandown Patent chest expanders. Clothing makers. Patents, and leather luggage such as suitcases and trunks. Boy Scouts Whistles. Some really fantastic PICTORIAL examples too.
I will reverse one of the photographs where needed so you can see what any wording says, but remember they are all backwards in real life!

This carved wood printing block depicts a pressure gauge that is named EUREKA.
The wooden block still has some of its natural bark on one side.

No maker's marks etc.

Please see photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition.
Normal signs of age and use wear.

It measures approx. 42mm x 38mm x 22mm.

I see Royal Mail have finally made a little progress shifting the MILLIONS of un - processed international packages for their onward journey from their depot at Milton Keynes.  It has taken them nearly 3 months in some cases to process and get MY packages to their international destinations which is SHOCKING to say the least. Most buyers will have been refunded now by ebay and millions of ebay sellers are in the same boat being fobbed off by their " cyber attack story NONSENSE " and we are dealing with the back log as fast as possible. That is what happens when you go on strike and do not process items every day like you are supposed to at the busiest time of year. Clearly all this was to the ever increasing downfall of what was once a great British company of Royal Mail. They are loosing £ millions of pounds per day from lost revenue and have LOST millions of customers in 3 months. RM have a guaranteed service - guaranteed to disappoint !!

Global shipping program delivers the majority of items but it has some archaic rules and regs regarding what it deems as RESTRICTED items. Seems they do not trust their own delivery people to deliver certain antiques, coins, jewellery, mother of pearl or meerschaum pipes. Common Sense should prevail but of course that is TOO easy.

To see ALL my other 6000+ items for sale: please click on the VISIT SHOP or click "see other items", strangely both only have a limited view of what I have to offer on each platform so to see everything click on Shop by Category which will give you a much better view.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.

If you see A/F = a/f in the title or description it means "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage. In relation to all my listings it does not mean " about fine ". I have used A/F  for " as found " for 45 years.
