1950’s Mercury hood ornament, emblem bezel NOS! BU-16632-A

This is a NOS hood ornament emblem bezel for a 1950’s Mercury (I presume).  I am not sure of the exact application for this, my searches have turned up empty.  It could also be for the trunk.  Perhaps it is for a truck or a Canadian model?  Chrome has a great shine.  There is a little cloudiness on the end of the left bar (pictured).  This may come out with a professional polishing.   Excellent condition, as pictured!
