ELVIS PRESLEY'S DEATH NEWSPAPER MEMPHIS PRESS-SCIMITAR EXTREMELY RARE "HOME EDITION" 8/17/1977

This is the original 1st print "Home Edition" that was on Memphians doorsteps that evening of Wednesday 8/17/1977.  During that time The Memphis Press-Scimitar Newspaper was the evening newspaper and The Memphis Commercial Appeal was the morning newspaper. Shortly after the HOME EDITION was printed and released to public, The SPECIAL EDITION would then be printed 2nd . It would released to public in mass quanities  to newstands across Shelby County. It actually was not available to public purchase until after 12am, so the date should actually be 8/18/1977.

This HOME EDITION 1st print is 100 times more rare than the SPECIAL EDITION 2nd print.  The difference between the two is the HOME EDITION is was what landed on the doorsteps of subscribed Memphians. It consists of the 1st written articles documenting Elvis' Death as well as everything else that made the newspaper for that day. The SPECIAL EDITION looks exactly the same on the front page but consist of 12 pages dedicated to commemorting life and death of Elvis Presley.

This 1ST PRINT HOME EDITION I believe they only printed a few 1000 copies before scraping it for the 2ND PRINT SPECIAL EDITION where they printed over 300,000 copies. 

I am from Memphis and have inherited from my grandfather this HOME EDITION copy as well as about 50 more just like it HOME EDITION he picked up that evening from wherever it was. He said they were to be thrown to trash because the SPECIAL EDITION were to be taken its place. Thats why these HOME EDITION copies are 100 time more rare than the SPECIAL EDITION copies you see for sale on EBAY for no more $25.  I have sold a few HOME

EDITION copies over the years to local restaurants here in Tennessee and to friends/fans. $100 was the lowest I ever accepted for one of these. I currently have around 40 of these HOME EDITION copies. They have all been wrapped up together in trash bag bound with duct tape in the top of a closet for over 40 years. Also a smoke free environment.
