As a child, I collected thousands of packs of football cards, hockey cards, basketball cards, and baseball cards, resulting in a lot of doubles and triples. I was also a very compulsive child, and if I didn't have a card of a player on a current roster .... I used the doubles and triples to create my own "rookie" cards. Although many would consider this to be the worst card collection in the world, the sentiment and stories behind each of these cards make them priceless to me ... and perhaps for anyone that placed a Tom Brady parallel in bicycle spokes or spilt milk on a Wayne Gretzky rookie card or returned home from collage to find out his or her parents threw their 1986 Fleer Basketball set in the trash. |
