The shade and base retain an original, slightly textured black finish while the neck and socket fitter appear to be nickel plated. It articulates and adjusts into an almost endless combination of patterns, and even features a fitting on the base to allow it to be hung on the wall. 

All the metal surfaces show small, acceptable amounts of wear, but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that detracts. The wiring has been replaced at some point and is functional as shown.
