Jim’s take on the infamous 5E3 circuit. Meticulously hand wired by the man himself! I opted for Jim’s suggested upgrades which will be noted below. Please note the Paul C mod helps lift the headroom when the switch is engaged and is completely out of the circuit when disengaged.
This amp does not deviate from what we know a 5E3 to sound and feel like. While it retains its spongy character it really sounds huge. Something to note is Jim houses the chassis in a slightly larger and deeper cabinet custom built by Bill Mather. This combination of the larger transformers, larger cabinet, and Alessandro speaker sound like a 5E3 shot out of a cannon.
No issues at all with this amp. It’s as fresh as the day I received it from Jim. No pets or smoke. Still smells like lacquer and pine. It’s always been kept in my home, and has very low hours on it ~
No trades please.
