Description: A very nice example of the first printing of the first edition. Measuring 7.5 inches by 5 inches. 173 pages. Original hardback in the original dustwrapper. The dustwrapper is not price clipped, still showing the original 18s price to the inside of the front flap. It is in very attractive condition with no obvious signs of wear, light fading to the front cover. The book itself is also in very attractive condition with boards and titles remaining bright (see pictures). Free of inscriptions. Binding sound and square. 

A few paragraphs have been highlighted by the  previous owner (see pictures). "Onions, Leeks, Garlic, Lillies and Rosemary were favourite plants for keeping witches at a distance for these unwelcome persons could not abide their odours. In Portugal the Rosemary was known as the "Elfin Plant" and dedicated to the little folk". For Mandrake; "His Satanic Majesty was supposed to take a particular interest in the plant and to assist persons to make use of it for magical purposes".
