The obverse side of the €1 coin depicts the portrait or effigy of King Felipe VI of Spain.The common reverse side of all Eurozone coins, symbolising the union, was designed by Luc Luycx of the Royal Mint of Belgium in 1996.The golden circle of the coin is made of nickel-brass. Inside the silver centre, there is a thin nickel layer coated with copper-nickel alloy containing 75% copper and 25% nickel.
