This piece is thought to be of Tiotihaucan origin, found in the region of The Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, long before the arrival of the Aztecs. Condition is exceptional. Painting visible beneath layers.  The utility of the piece is evident by the addition of the three loops around the body, as well as the open vessel that is carried on the the back of the figure. The piece has been described as having a utilitarian function such as to contain medicine, oils, or water for a child. That the 'loops' were intended to allow it to be hung near the child's sleeping area. Flaking, paint loss and disintegration of surface. Visible chips.
