Excellent Original Antique Ambrotype Photo,

Part of the Conant Family of Yarmouth, Maine

DESCRIPTION: Beautiful early antique ambrotype image taken during the heyday of popular ambrotype photography, c1850 - 1860.  I apologize for any reflected light in my scans, obviously not part of the actual photo itself.

This ambrotype was part of a group I acquired and am listing on ebay, many of which have period paper identification labels. Related friends and family members with paper labels in the group include family names of Conant, Ingalls, Powers, and Taylor. Various locations are given, including Cumberland, Maine and Yarmouth, Maine. Needless to say, it is EXTREMELY UNUSUAL, VERY RARE, AND VERY NICE TO FIND AN EARLY ANTIQUE AMBROTYPE PHOTO WITH ANY KIND OF ORIGINAL PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION!!!

This ambro has great early c1850 appearance. Her hair is up, she is wearing a nice brooch, and she is seated in a nice antebellum pose.

1/6 plate size, in a beautiful 1/6 plate brass mat, with a red plush decoration, set in a complete, brown leather case. A high quality designed case. Could use some additional black paint in a couple of spots where it has flaked off, very easy to do. VERY NICE THAT IT IS STILL IN THE SAME FRAME/MAT/CASE THAT IT HAS BEEN IN FOR 170+ YEARS!!!

Please see my auction list for other framed antique photos from this same family, both ambrotypes and daguerreotypes, many identified and many in gorgeous cases!!

PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!!!
