Bobby Richardson was often overlooked as a superstar contributor to the New York Yankees glamor teams of the 1950’s and early 1960’s.  Slick fielding South Carolina native Bobby Richardson anchored second base for the Yankees for twelve seasons, helping to lead the Bronx Bombers to three World Series titles.  He was an eight-time American League All-Star and won five consecutive Gold Glove Awards, from 1961 to 1965.  He was often referred to as the “glue” for the Yankees infield.  Richardson is also the answer to a fun bit of World Series trivia: Who is the only player to win World Series MVP (in 1960) while playing for the losing team?  Of course, it’s Bobby “Glue” Richardson.
