Up for sale is a painting / sculpture by British (1929-2012) figurative artist, Evelyn “Evie” Williams, from her 1989 “Boxed Heads”series. Signed, dated and having her Finsbury Park, London studio label affixed to the back. The frame is part of the art. Measuring 19” x 15”. Please see pictures for condition. There’s a paint crack outside the work (part of frame), may be intentional. Pictured. Very rare.

From the Anima Mundi Gallery - British painter Evelyn Williams, arguably less known that many of her male contemporaries, despite winning the John Moores Prize for sculpture, produced an unrivalled body of work, unguardedly expressing the wide ranging complexities of the human condition. She proved difficult for some to categorise during her life time, but is regarded, along with friends such as Paula Rego, as having forged a path for female artists. Despite failing health she continued painting right up to her death in 2012 at the age of 83.
