Original antique copy Official Secrets Act from Harland and Wolff Shipyard.

This is an original copy of The Official Secrets Acts, 1911 to 1939 which was purchased in the 1990’s from an auction of Harland and Wolff Shipyard memorabilia.

It measures 800mm x 545mm including the frame, which appears to be original. There are 4 large holes in the frame where screws would have affixed it to the office wall.

Multiple layers of paint are still visible on the sides where the wall is sat on would have been painted and re-painted over the years.

The paper has some foxing as would be expected but is in very good order. The reverse has many screws holding the backboard in place, and there is no evidence that these have ever been removed…possibly since before WWII.

This document would have been a legal requirement in the shipyard and employees would have been reminded of the very special nature of their work each time they passed it.

A rare artefact.
