With the Fish-eye
lens you can photograph a 180° angle of view just as the eye of a fish, which
gives this lens its name. Lenses tend to give a more distorted image as the angle
of view becomes wider. To accommodate the film size , this lens preserves the
roundness of the field and photographs with and angle of coverage of 180°There
fore the image becomes circular. The Fish-eye lens was originally developed for
academic or research photography such as astronomical photography and measuring
clouds. Since then photographers have found its unique perspective very useful
in regular photography for creating artistic effects.
