This relates to a Law from 1884 , and the Sign 

This is a cast iron sign . It still has the Original White Enamel on the front . The back has the post mark down the centre where it was mounted for around 130 years . There are also the obligatory air rifle pellet marks on the back , where it has been used for target practice . This is a fabulous piece of Railwayana .

The Sign is extremely heavy and weighs nearly 30 Kg without packaging , so it is for collection only . We are 10 miles from Hull in East Yorkshire .It measures 31.5 inches x 21.5 inches and is made from thick cast iron .

It reads 

LANCASHIRE & YORKSHIRE RAILWAY PUBLIC NOTICE

All persons are hereby warned not to prespass on this railway or any station or other works lands or property of the Lancs and Yorks Railway Co.

Every person so trespassing after this warning will be prosecuted and will be liable under section 36 of the Lancs & Yorkshire Railway Act 1884 to a penalty not exceeding forty shillings.
