A
pleasing antique circa 1890's-1910 hand painted German porcelain
(highly glazed china) mug. The mug shows an attractively hand painted
scene of two conure parrots perched on branches. The mug measures 3 5/8"
tall by 3 7/8" across rim & handle by 3 1/16" across top rim by 3
3/16" across bottom rim. The weight is 9.2 ounces.
The
base is marked only with an unreadable number under the glaze. There is
no maker's name but the mug is definitely of German quality. The
painting is in wonderful condition & shows no wear. There is a light
surface natural glaze craze age mark in the shape of a small x under
the mug. This is NOT a crack. But, the center of the handle where the
handle connects to body of the mug has a hairline crack. This hairline
crack appears to have probably occurred in the making of the mug as the
area is glazed over the crack. An interesting item for parrot lovers as
well as Victorian era china collectors.
